Good projects that create lasting memories usually demand a fair amount of patience and dedication. With the right approach, preparation and team, everything is easier.
Luka will share stories, experiences and knowledge gained during many unsuccessful and successful climbing trips. With the gained knowledge you will hopefully be able to avoid some unnecessary mistakes and do some bigger climbs more in control.
Amanda Kao (She/Her) is the founder and CEO of The Bad Academy, an organization that produces workshops for women, by women.
She's been climbing all over the world since 2011, and is on a mission to increase access for more women and gender-non-conforming people in the outdoors space.
As a self-described "bad climber", Amanda will share her insights into the challenges of pushing oneself physically and mentally and how that affects the practice of climbing and one's life that surrounds it.
*Please note that this workshop is for women and GNC people only.*
Whether you’re going from the gym to the crag, trying to figure out how to top-rope a local highball boulder, or just want to flesh out your knowledge and understanding of anchors, this seminar is for you.
Quentin has built thousands of anchors over his life, and he knows when they do and don't work. He’s used them for everything from hanging a heavy painting on the wall, to rigging huge highlines.
In this seminar you will learn how to build basic anchors, and will also learn how that knowledge can be applied to more complicated anchors that you can be built anywhere in the future.

The Hive’s Dyno Comp is back! Join us for some thrilling examples of dynamic climbing and a little friendly competition.
Registration begins at 9AM and qualifiers will take place in 2x two-hour heats, starting at 9:30AM and 11:30AM, to avoid long waits between attempts. Finals go flying from 3:30–5:30PM, don't miss it! All are welcome to cheer finalists on.
SIGN UP:
Come on down to Pavilion Park between 9AM-12:30pm and sign up in-person at the Hive tent next to the bouldering wall.
Once heat 1 is full, remaining sign-ups will go into heat two will fill up.
Max competitors per heat: 30 total
Last call to register for qualifiers is 12:30pm. You need enough time to attempt all boulders.
QUALIFIERS:
Qualifiers will consist of a series of numbered dynos of increasing difficulty (with varying techniques, styles, distance, hold types) and participants may choose which ones they attempt.
Each athlete gets 3 chances per dyno, but only your top 5 count towards your overall score.
Categories available for finals are male and female (due to setting logistics for finals) and we respectfully ask that gender-expansive folks select the option that best fits them, and all competitors are welcome to add a note of their pronouns beside their category selection for use by judges (and MC during finals) if they so choose.
Gendered categories in competition is a subject much discussed and we will continue to work towards a viable alternative, but have yet to find a solution that works well without larger societal/systemic changes
FINALS:
Top six of each category after Qualifiers will move on to compete in finals.
If you don't make finals? Come back, join the crowd, and cheer the top folks on like the good sport we know you are!
Each category in Finals will have a winner and a runner up.
Prizes include Hive gym membership and top-notch Arc'teryx swag to go with your bragging rights ;)
Audience members who cheer enthusiastically have the best chance at winning a little something for yourselves!

Join Alpinist Steve Swenson as he discusses longevity in sport and dives into topics such as risk management, skill progression and maintenance, fitness, health, nutrition, injury prevention, partnership and strategy.
He will dive into the self-care necessary to support a decades long climbing lifestyle, how to cultivate and maintain important climbing relationships, critical decision making, and how to develop pragmatic and innovative tactics to maximize the chance of success on different types of alpine objectives.
Despite having less blank spots on the map, there is still plenty of potential for new routes all around the globe. The biggest challenge of climbing big new routes is the unknown; what to bring with you, when to go, how to get down.
Luka will share his approach in climbing new routes and which questions he asks himself before deciding to commit to try the new route. New routing can be a very rewarding process and is not reserved only for elite climbers.
For many of us, climbing means striving towards a goal, be it a new route, a summit or a redpoint. But is it only reaching the goal that counts, or does how we get there matter too?
What if the rules we choose to play by, whether it's going ground up on a new rock route or alpine style in the mountains, make success less likely? Does not allowing ourselves shortcuts make for a richer experience or merely eat up more time?
Wrestling with these questions has clarified what climbing means for me; I hope that sharing my experiences in this seminar can do the same for you.
